Success Stories

Real life. Real impact. Real change.

Every person who walks through the doors of Serenity Community Homes brings a story — often one marked by hardship, loss, and uncertainty. But with the right care, structure, and belief, those same stories can become ones of strength, resilience, and new beginnings.

Our residents show us every day that change is possible. With person-centred support, stable housing, and compassionate guidance, people who once felt forgotten are now thriving — living proof that recovery and reintegration truly work when community and kindness come together.

Here are just a few of their journeys.

  • Case story 1

After experiencing a relapse, the client became homeless and was referred to our service from another city. We collected the client as had no funds to get to us, we supported the client in accessing both mental health and sexual health services to ensure their immediate wellbeing. Through consistent engagement in group work and one-to-one sessions, the client made significant progress in their recovery journey. By the time they left our service, they were clean, stable, and successfully reunited with their children and wider family network.

  • Case story 2

A local client joined our service directly after completing detox. Without this support, they would have faced homelessness. Since engaging with our program, the client has fully participated in all activities, including structured groups and individual support sessions. They continue to make excellent progress and are thriving in their recovery, demonstrating strong commitment and motivation for positive change.

  • Case story 3

Local client was referred to our service and collected directly from prison. Upon arrival, we provided immediate support with medication management and helped connect them to ongoing mental health services. Since then, the client has been engaging consistently with our team and is doing really well, showing steady progress and commitment to their recovery.

  • Case story 4

Before completing detox and rehab, the client self-referred to our service for continued support. Once finished in rehab, we collected the client. Together, we developed a person-centred plan focused on maintaining recovery while rebuilding family connections and spending quality time with their children. With ongoing guidance, structure, and encouragement, the client is learning to balance abstinent living with everyday life, showing determination, self-awareness, and commitment to long-term recovery.
