    We do this through person-centred support, combining practical help with emotional and social development. Every person who walks through our doors has a story, and we make sure their support plan reflects that, because recovery isn’t one-size-fits-all.

    We focus on balance: a clear programme for accountability, alongside the flexibility and empathy needed for personal growth. Residents have their own private rooms and access to all home facilities, encouraging both privacy and community living.

    • People leaving prison who need a safe, structured place to reintegrate.

    • Those leaving rehab or detox, ready to maintain abstinence with continued guidance.

    • Individuals experiencing homelessness or relapse, seeking a stable environment to start again.

    Each person arrives with different challenges, trauma, addiction, health issues, or disconnection from family, but we meet them where they are, with dignity and understanding.

The Challenges We Face and Why Your Support Matters

Running Serenity Community Homes is deeply rewarding. Every day, we see people rebuild their lives, reconnect with loved ones, and find the stability they once thought impossible. But doing this vital work also comes with ongoing challenges that call for teamwork, flexibility, and continued community support.

  • Many of our residents arrive with multiple, overlapping challenges — from mental health difficulties and trauma to substance use and homelessness. Meeting these needs effectively takes time, care, and skilled staff. With many external services under strain, it can stretch our resources, but never our commitment.

    Funding and donations enable us to provide the high-quality, person-centred support each individual deserves — from employing additional trained staff to offering ongoing professional development for our team.

  • Some residents benefit from specialist therapies or community groups that are located further afield and come with travel costs. With additional funding, we can make sure no one misses out on the right kind of help simply because of distance or cost.

  • Like many community-based charities, Serenity often faces more demand than we can meet. Every room filled means a life changed, but there are always more people waiting for the same chance. With greater financial support, we can expand our reach, take on more residents, and strengthen the services that help them thrive long after they leave.
